GUJRAT: Police have launched investigation into the sudden death of a young Kabaddi player, who was allegedly given poison, at Peer Jhand village in Kharian Saddar police precincts on Friday.
As per police sources, Qasim Gujjar, a young Kabaddi player, was brought to the Kharian THQ Hospital by his family as he fell sick after he had some drink. He later died in the hospital.
After his death, some close friends took to social media, apprehending that he might have been poisoned.
The sources say that DPO Akhtar Farooq took notice of the matter and directed the police to investigate it. On the police’s recommendation, hospital doctors conducted his autopsy.
A spokesman for Gujrat police says the samples from the body will also be sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency lab for analysis to ascertain the death cause.
He says any further legal action would be taken in the light of the lab report.
ACTION: The entire staff of Rehmanpura police check post of Bulani Police Station on the border of Azad Kashmir in Sara-i-Alamgir tehsil has been removed and the in-charge was suspended from service in response to public complaints.
The action was taken by the DPO on Friday.
ASI Javed was in-charge of Rehmanpura Chowki and there were complaints against him and his subordinates.
Moreover, SI Kaleemullah, the in-charge of Jattuwakal police check post of Civil Lines police, has been suspended from service for illegal confinement of two citizens.
