LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested five suspects, including a proclaimed offender, in migrant smuggling and visa fraud cases.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrests were made by the agency’s anti-human trafficking circle during raids conducted in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad and Azad Kashmir.
The suspects were identified as Luqman, Israr Ahmed, Ehteshamul Haq, Afzal Ahmed and Abdul Khaliq.
He claimed the suspects had defrauded citizens of Rs14.1 million by promising overseas employment on work visas.
However, they failed to arrange the promised jobs or facilitate the victims’ travel abroad.
The spokesperson said Ehteshamul Haq had been wanted by the FIA, Lahore since 2023.
