GUJRAT: Police have booked residents of the Hariyewala village for allegedly attacking and threatening Gujrat Assistant Commissioner Abdul Qadeer Zarkoon and other officials when they were attempting to open a culvert at Lala Chak along the GT Road bypass.
According to the FIR registered at the Industrial Estate Police station on the complaint of Gujrat district council official Altumash Sikandar, a team led by Gujrat AC and District Council Chief Officer Faraz Mehdi had gone to the area to open a culvert which had been blocked by some locals.
He further claimed that when the team was busy in opening the culvert, some villagers, led by one Bilal Asghar of Hariyewala, arrived at the scene and offered resistance. The suspects, he claimed, hurled life threats, meddled in the official work and manhandled some officials at the site.
Police registered the case and started investigations.
