KOHAT: A customs official was martyred and another injured when terrorists attacked their patrol car on the Indus Highway here on Friday, sources said.

They said that the vehicle caught fire due to intense firing by the terrorists, leaving one official dead and another wounded.

The slain official was identified as Jawad, and the wounded as Baseerullah.

The personnel of the security forces and police rushed to the scene after the attack and launched a search operation to arrest the perpetrators. However, no arrests could be made.

The Counter-Terrorism Department registered a case under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and sections 302 and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

It may be recalled that seven officials of the Customs Intelligence were martyred in an attack on the Gulshanabad checkpost on the hilly track between Kohat and Darra Adamkhel a few months back.
