GUJRANWALA, July 16: As many as 50 modern cameras will be installed at all important places of the city, including trade and shopping centres in various bazaars.

This was stated by DIG Malik Muhammad Iqbal while talking to this correspondent here on Sunday.

He said about 100 policemen would be deployed for patrolling in the city on motorcycles regularly to avert street crime.

He said uniform of patrolling police would be changed shortly while all better facilities would be provided to them following revamping the monitoring system.

However, he warned that negligent and inefficient officials would not be spared.

He said Rescue-15 had already started functioning in four towns —Khiali Shahpur, Aroop, Nandipur and Qila Dedar Singh—and expressed the hope that the squad would reduce crime rate.

CRUSHED TO DEATH: An unidentified elderly woman was run over and killed by an express train at Kamoki railway station on Sunday. Reports said the woman was crossing the railway track when a Karachi-bound train ran over her, killing her on the spot. — Correspondent
