KARACHI: A judicial magistrate on Wednesday recorded the statement of an American woman, who was subjected to a sexual assault in her Defence apartment.

Police had apprehended a teenage boy on the allegation of rape with the foreign woman at her apartment in DHA Phase VI on July 17.

On Wednesday, State prosecutor Abdul Razzaq Gujjar told Dawn that the investigating officer of the case brought the victim before Judicial Magistrate (South) Saima Katto, who recorded the statement under Section 164 of the criminal procedure code and sealed it.

Meanwhile, after the expiry of the first remand, the IO produced the suspect before Judicial Magistrate (South) Muzammil Ali Soomro.

The IO informed the court that the ossification test had been conducted and its report was expected to be received within three to four days.

The prosecutor told Dawn that the police had retained the suspect in their custody on transit remand as the judge concerned was unavailable at the time. He added that the suspect would be produced before the relevant court on July 23 (today).

A case was registered at the Darakhshan police station under Section 376 (Rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
