LAHORE July 14: Police have beefed up security at all religious places following Karachi killings. City Police Chief AIG Khwaja Khalid Farooq has directed all divisional SPs to deploy extra force at major mosques, Imambargahs, and churches in the city. He has also asked them to hold meetings with ulema of different sects to create harmony between them.

Meanwhile, the Imamia Students Organisation has held a demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club against the murder of Maulana Turabi in Karachi.

Chanting slogans against the government, the protesters said that it was a conspiracy to fan sectarianism. They later dispersed peacefully.

The Islami Jamiat Tulba has also condemned the incident.

BEGGARS: Police have arrested 245 professional beggars in different parts of the city during the last three days.

A case has been registered against them under the beggary act.

DIG Operations Aamir Zulifqar has directed all TPOs to show no leniency to professional beggars.

MURDER: The body of 22-year old Abbas of Nawankot was found in the Ravi. He was missing since last couple of days. His father alleged that his friend Hanif along with two accomplices had killed him.
