MURREE, July 14: Principal of Lawrence College, Ghora Gali, Murree, Air Commodore (retired) Farooq H. Kiyani, has expressed the hope that the youth of Pakistan and India would seize the opportunities to forge harmony, understanding and goodwill for the ultimate good of the people and progress and prosperity in the region.

He was addressing the joint assembly of the young Gallians as well as a contingent of 21 students and staff members of Lawrence School, Sanawar, Simla, in India that is on a visit to the Lawrence College, Ghora Gali.

This is the first ever visit of the students and staff of the Lawrence School, Sanawar, India to Lawrence College, Ghora Gali. The founder of both the schools was Sir Henry Lawrence.

They have the same setup, system and culture and are among the top ranking residential institutions of the subcontinent with time-tested values and glorious traditions, and long history. They also have the same motto, ‘Never Give In’.

Principal Air Commodore (retired) Farooq H. Kiyani welcomed the visitors and appreciated the efforts of the administration of the Lawrence School, Sanawar, for initiating the visit to Lawrence College Ghora Gali.

Referring to the goodwill gesture shown by the administration of Lawrence School, Sanawar, Mr Kiyani expressed the hope that such visits would help improve relations between the two states.

He said by adhering to their motto ‘Never Give In’ the Sanawarians and Gallians would continue working for the good of the people of the subcontinent in general and humanity in particular.

Speaking on the occasion, Kalpana Bakshi reciprocated the feelings of goodwill and optimism expressed by Principal Kiyani.

She, on behalf of the headmaster, Lawrence School, Sanawar, and members of the delegation thanked the principal, staff and boys of Lawrence College, Ghora Gali, for showing them excellent hospitality and looking after them so well.

Earlier in a colourful ceremony, Headboy of Lawrence College Ali Umair and Headgirl from Sanawar Shagufta Bhangu exchanged college flags with each other.

The students of the two eminent institutions of the subcontinent also sang the school songs on the occasion.

In a colourful stage-show the students of junior, prep and senior school gave a thrilling performance and enthralled the audience.

The performance of the young girls and boys from Lawrence School, Sanawar, India was scintillating and exhilarating.

R. Puri, Dean, Lawrence School, Sanawar, also addressed the gathering on the occasion.

He appreciated the overall standards of Lawrence College, Murree and stressed the need of continuing the goodwill exchange visits between the two institutions.

The Indian delegation also visited the enchanting suburbs of Murree.
