KARACHI, July 14: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has appealed to Karachities to observe a peaceful strike on Saturday (July 14) in protest against the assassination of Allama Hasan Turabi here on Friday.

A spokesman for MMA urged business community, transporters, shopkeepers, traders, labourers and general public to make the strike a success.

He said Allama Turabi was a symbol of Muslim unity and his demise was a great loss for the whole Ummah.

Meanwhile, the All-Pakistan Organisation of Small Traders and Cottage Industries, Karachi, has announced a shutter-down on Saturday.

President of the organisation Mahmood Hamid and other office-bearers described Allama Turabi’s killing as the government’s failure in protecting life and property of people, saying that terrorists had been given a free hand to eliminate ulema and other innocent people.—PPI
