ISLAMABAD, July 13: The Indus River System Authority on Thursday said water level was gradually improving in major reservoirs after monsoon rains in catchment areas.

Irsa sources said the four provinces were getting their full water share because there was no water shortage in the country.

They said water level in dams would further improve because the Met office had predicted more rains in dams’ catchment areas, adding that melting of snow would also help improve the water situation in the River Indus.

Irsa on Thursday released 353,457 cusecs water from various rim stations and the overall water inflow from various reservoirs was recorded at 543,899 cusecs.

The water level at the Tarbela Dam is 1469.10 feet, which is 100 feet higher than its dead level. Water inflow at the dam was recorded at 328,300 cusecs and outflow at 174,000 cusecs.

The water level at the Mangla Dam was recorded at 1175.60 feet, which is 135 feet higher than its dead level. Water inflow at the dam was recorded at 54,142 cusecs and outflow at 18,000 cusecs.

The contribution of Kabul and Chenab rivers was recorded at 52,400 cusecs and 109,057 cusecs, respectively.—APP
