Two girls feared drowned in Indus

MIANWALI: It is being apprehended that two young girls allegedly drowned in the river Indus near Chashma Barrage, some 30kms from here, while their family was picnicking there.

As per Mianwali Rescue 1122, on Wednesday morning a family, belonging to Kacha Gujrat village of Piplan tehsil came to the river Indus for a picnic and camped on the river bank near Chashma Barrage.

While the family members were enjoying in the shallow waters, two young girls -- Hawa (16) and Shumaila (18) -- drifted into a deep area and disappeared in the river before they could be rescued.

On being called by the family, Mianwali Rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene and started a search operation.

The Rescue 1122 PRO says the teams comprising 12 divers and equipped with boats, were searching for the girls, who are feared to have drowned.
