KHYBER: Agitated students of Postgraduate Degree College (PGDC) Landi Kotal staged a protest demonstration on Monday against delay in taking their examinations of different semesters.
Holding banners and placards inscribed with slogan in support of their demands, they also blocked Peshawar-Torkham Highway for some time. They blamed University of Peshawar (UoP) for necessarily delaying their examinations, which had also confronted them with the loss of their academic year.
The protesting students said that their examinations for different semesters were scheduled in February but were postponed due to tension at border with Afghanistan with the UoP promising them holding the exams as soon the situation at the border was stabilised.
They alleged that no new schedule was announced for their examinations while they had their final term exams scheduled for July 15 in which they would not be allowed to sit till they cleared their previous exams.
They threatened to take their protest to the chief minister’s secretariat in Peshawar if authorities concerned failed to announce their exam scheduled within two days.
