OKARA: A woman was allegedly killed by her two sisters along with five others over a dispute of inherited property on Saturday night.
As per the FIR, the victim’s husband claimed that he was at his house in village 1/4L when he was called to the railway level crossing at 1/ 4L road by his wife, Nasreen.
He claimed when he reached the spot, Zahid, Naveed and his spouse Aasia, along with Saima, Atif and two unidentified suspects came and confronted Nasreen for not giving them a share in the inherited property.
He alleged that the suspects repeatedly struck Nasreen with bricks and Naveed, armed with a weapon, warned witnesses not to intervene.
He claimed that the bone of contention was that the suspects were demanding a share in Nasreen’s inherited property, which both sisters had already received.
The FIR further claimed that the suspects had previously tortured Nasreen and the case of that incident was still pending.
On the complaint of Nasreen’s husband Khalid Javid, the Saddar Police registered a case and were investigating.
CONVICTED: A narcotics dealer was convicted and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment ( RI) for life along with a fine of Rs800,000 by the court of Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Syyeda Nabbila Jaffery.
The court heard the case of 11.22kg of chars recovered by the Okara Cantt Police in mid August 2025 near village 10/4L from convict Mudassar Hussain Awan, a resident of Qila Didar Singh in Gujranwala district.
The court, on conclusion of trial proceedings, found Mudassar Hussain guilty and sentenced him to RI for life along with a fine of Rs800,000.
The court further ruled that in case of default of the fine amount, the convict would have to further serve simple imprisonment for six months.
