Boy critical after torture at madressah

LAHORE: Another student was brutally tortured in a madressah by his teacher and others in Lahore on Sunday.

The Kahna police arrested the prime suspect in the incident who was also the madressah head.

As per the reports, the minor student, identified as Sameer, suffered multiple wounds on different parts of his body when head of the seminary, identified as Tahir, and some students subjected him to torture.

The footage of a CCTV camera spotted seven attackers physically torturing the young student on the madressah premises.

The student got deep wounds and was hospitalised in serious condition while the suspects fled the scene.

A police official said the police traced and arrested the prime suspect, Tahir, who was administrator of the madressah.

To a question, he said Tahir and Sameer had exchanged some heated arguments over some matter. He said the seminary administrator called his accomplices and attacked the student. The police teams were conducting raids for the arrest of the other suspects, he said, adding that a case had been lodged against them on the complaint of Sameer’s brother.

The other day, a 12-year-old madressah student who was tortured in the Cantt area of Lahore succumbed to injuries after he was subjected to torture at a madressah.

Ali Haider belonged to the Bahawalnagar and his parents took him to their native town and continued treating him privately without informing law enforcement agencies.

The child succumbed to his fatal injuries inflicted by his madressah teacher. It was only after his death that the family contacted the police and complained against the assault.
