ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Russia on Tuesday underscored the need for unified efforts against regional terrorist threats, with a particular focus on cross-border challenges emanating from Afghanistan.

The understanding was reached during the 12th session of the Joint Working Group on Countering International Terrorism, where both sides agreed to expand counterterrorism cooperation and strengthen security coordination.

The dialogue was co-led by Ambassador Muhammad Khalid Khan Jamali, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dmitry Lyubinsky, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The delegations reviewed the regional security situation, focusing on how terrorism from Afghanistan poses threats to neighbours.
