Four men get life term over murder

LARKANA: The Model Criminal Trial Court of Qambar on Tuesday sentenced four accused to life imprisonment and imposed on them a fine of Rs1 million each after they were found guilty of “brutally and mercilessly” killing a man, Mumtaz Guramani, on August 3, 2022 within the jurisdiction of the Drigh police station of Qambar town.

A case vide FIR No. 35/2022 against the accused — Ghulam Ali, Badaruddin, Allah Dino and Dado aka Sachal Guramani Chandio — was registered at the Dost Ali police post on the complaint of the victim’s father, Amir Jan Guramani.

The complainant had stated that his son was attacked with repeated blows of axes over a matter of irrigation water flows to his land.

In his order, Judge Tariq Bhatti said that the fine amount of Rs4m would be paid to the bereaved family.

He said that in case of default, the fine amount should be recovered through the sale proceeds of the properties of the accused or the accused would have to undergo an additional RI of two years each.

Upon pronouncement of the judgement, the convicts were escorted back to the Larkana Central Prison to serve out the sentences.

Advocate Ali Hassan Mugheri represented the complainant in the trial.
