QUETTA, July 11: The Balochistan Professors and Lecturers Association (BPLA) has announced a series of protests, including wearing black armbands and token boycott of classes in colleges, from July 15 against non-acceptance of their demands.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club on Tuesday, Prof Siraj Ahmed Kakar, president of the BPLA, held the provincial secretary of the education department responsible for the miseries of the teaching community in colleges.

He claimed that college teachers’ promotion cases had been pending before the secretary education for a long period and it had passed it on to the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) for the approval of the provincial selection board.

He said that the cases of teachers could not be decided in the selection board meeting held in May owing to which the teachers had been deprived of one increment.
