MIRAMSHAH: Five security personnel were martyred when terrorists attacked a bomb disposal unit (BDU) during curfew hours in Razmak subdivision of North Waziristan district on Sunday.

Sources said the incident occurred near a security checkpost in Waidoon area of Dosali tehsil, where a BDU party was carrying out routine operational duties. They said that armed militants launched an attack on the security personnel, resulting in the martyrdom of five personnel on the spot.

The attack triggered a high-alert situation in the area, prompting security forces to launch a large-scale search and clearance operation.

The sources said that the bodies were airlifted by helicopter to Combined Military Hospital in Bannu for necessary formalities and funeral arrangements.

Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and initiated an extensive search operation to trace the assailants.

Multiple checkpoints were established on key routes, while movement in and around the affected locality was placed under strict surveillance.
