SUKKUR: The funeral prayers of an army jawan, Saddam Hussain Jakhro, were held with full military honours at the Old Power House Ground in Shikarpur on Saturday.

Saddam Jakhro had embraced martyrdom recently while fighting against terrorists in the Orakzai region near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The funeral ceremony was attended by a contingent of the Pakistan Army, besides the bereaved family, their relatives, friends and a large number of local residents.

Army personnel presented a guard of honour.

Later, the soldier was laid to rest in the Chingi Graveyard.

Saddam Jakhro had joined the Pakistan Army three years ago and had been serving in the Sindh Regiment. He has left behind a widow and a young daughter.

“Saddam Hussain Jakhro, son of Muhammad Sadiq Jakhro, was martyred during an operation against terrorists while bravely defending the country’s frontiers,” a statement issued by the army said.
