ISLAMABAD: Pakistan expressed its deep shock today [June 19] at the killings in South Africa’s black township of Soweto and said it fully supported the African countries’ initiative for an urgent session of the UN Security Council on the matter. A statement by a Foreign Office spokesman said Pakistan was ready to support as before adoption of appropriate measures under the UN Charter to enforce compliance by South Africa’s racist regime with the will of international community. … “The people of Pakistan extend their heartfelt sympathy to the victims who have fallen in the cause of human dignity and equality in South Africa. …”
[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Quetta,] Qazi Mohammad Isa, a veteran Muslim Leaguer and a close associate of Quaid-i-Azam died of heart failure here this morning [June 19]. He was 64. His Namaze Janaza will be held at his residence on Lytton Road at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning. He will be buried at his ancestral graveyard at a place three miles from Pishin. … Qazi Isa ... founded Muslim League in Baluchistan in 1939... . … The news of Qazi Isa’s death cast a pall of gloom over Quetta.
