Total goals in tournament history: 2063.

Top scorer in 2006: Miroslav Klose (Germany): 5.

Top scorer in history: Ronaldo (Brazil): 15 (3 in 2006).

Fastest goal: Carlos Gamarra (Paraguay) 4th minute own goal against England.

Best attack: Germany (14).

Best defence: Switzerland (0). Switzerland became the first team to bow out after not conceding a single goal in the group stage or their second-round match against Ukraine, who won on penalties. The Swiss also missed all three of their penalties in the shootout for another first.

Italy's two goals conceded was the joint lowest by a title-winner along with France in 1998.

Own goals: 4.

Penalties: 16.

Yellow cards: 305.

Red cards: 28.

Spectators: 3.367 million (average 52,609).

Portuguese keeper Ricardo became the first man to save three shootout penalties in the win over England.

Brazil stretched their record run of consecutive wins to 11 before losing to France.
