KARACHI: A sessions court on Monday dismissed the post-arrest bail pleas of two accomplices of alleged drug baroness Anmol Pinky in a case pertaining to the trafficking of narcotic substances.
Zeeshan-ur-Rehman and Sohail-ur-Rehman had filed bail applications before District and Sessions Judge (South) Zahoor Ahmed Hakro through their counsel.
After hearing arguments from all sides, including state prosecutor Muhammad Arif Sitai, who opposed the pleas, the court rejected both applications, observing that the duo was prima facie involved in the case, which falls within the prohibitory clause of the drug law.
The court noted that although the names of both suspects were not mentioned in the FIR, they had been implicated on the basis of bank statements and digital evidence collected by the police. It further observed that the alleged financial records reflected suspicious transactions repeatedly made in favour of the suspects or from their accounts.
During the hearing, the IO also informed the court that mobile phone chats also existed between the applicants and the prime suspect, as well as with absconding suspect Humaira, and that they acted as abettors and facilitators of the drug network.
Prosecutor Sitai argued before the court that a mobile phone recovered from Anmol Pinky was sent to the FIA for forensic analysis, which allegedly revealed WhatsApp chats between her and her two accomplices linked with monetary transactions.
The prosecutor further argued that the alleged drug dealer used to transfer drug money into bank accounts operated by the two accomplices.
The police had registered a case against Anmol Pinky at the Garden Police Station under Sections 9(1) and 7(c) of the Sindh Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 2024.
It claimed that they had recovered a huge quantity of prepared cocaine and other substances used to manufacture drugs from her possession.
