SUKKUR: A young woman suffered a fatal bullet wound during firing inside her home, located in Osto Bhale Dino Abad village of Jacobabad district, on Monday.

Officials at the Mauladad police station, said the woman, Maryam Brohi, was shot dead by unknown suspects present inside her home.

Her uncle, Mohammad Sadiq Brohi, told local reporters that she was hit when an armed group led by Abdul Nabi Khokhrani fired shots on her brother, Abid Ali Brohi, but missed the target.

Some residents of the neighbourhood, however, alleged that it was Abid Brohi who killed his sister in the name of honour.

The police were investigating the matter to reach a conclusion. They collected and shifted the body to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital for a postmortem examination. Later, the body was handed over to the heirs.

In Karam Khan Panhwar village of the same district, a young woman, Rukhsana Panhwar, allegedly killed herself with a TT pistol inside her home, officials at the Abad police station said.

The police quoted her uncle, Mahboob Ali Panhwar, as stating that she took the extreme action over a domestic dispute.

They took the body into custody and took it to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital for a postmortem examination and later handed it over to the heirs.
