PESHAWAR: The University of Peshawar has decided to pool all official vehicles under a centralised transport system as part of measures to address the prevailing financial constraints and improve resource management.
According to an office order issued by the additional registrar here on Monday, the decision was taken in light of deliberations held during the 138th meeting of the Senate and recommendations made by the Committee of Deans.
Under the directive, all university vehicles, including those attached to deans’ offices, teaching departments, institutes, centres, constituent colleges, schools and administrative offices, will be transferred to the university transport pool with immediate effect.
The move is intended to ensure optimum utilisation, efficient management and cost-effective operation of the university’s transport resources.
As part of institutional austerity measures and financial discipline, the vice-chancellor has also voluntarily directed that Rs20,000 per month be deducted from his salary to cover petrol, oil and lubricants expenses incurred on the use of his official vehicle.
The university administration has directed all offices concerned and departments to implement the decision with immediate effect.
