Woman ‘shot dead by husband’ in Surjani

KARACHI: A young woman was gunned down allegedly by her husband in Surjani Town on Friday morning, police said.

Area SHO Sohail Khaskheli said that Misbah, 25, had developed differences with her husband Salman and came to her parents’ home.

He said on Friday, the husband visited his in-laws’ home to convince his wife to come along with him.

However, as she refused, the suspect took out a pistol and opened fire on her and fled, he said.

She sustained critical bullet wounds and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

The officer said the suspect had two wives.

He originally hailed from Rahim Yar Khan and worked as a waiter at a restaurant in the city.

Octogenarian dies of burns

An octogenarian man suffered burns and died in his home near Abbas Town on Friday.

Sachal SHO Wilayat Shah said that Syed Sadiq Husain, 85, was living alone in the house. He said it was not clear how the fire erupted in the house.

The corpse was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
