NAWABSHAH: Two brothers were killed and three others wounded near Landhi stop in Nawabshah on Friday, the area police said.

The five brothers — Arsalan, Sarmad, Faisal, Saud and Salman, belonging to the Jamali community — were returning to their home in Khair Shah village from the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Nawabshah, when they were waylaid by unknown assailants.

Arsalan, 18, and Sarmad, 28, died on the spot and their bodies were transported to the People Medical University Hospital, for a postmortem examination.

The wounded brothers were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

One of the surviving brothers, Faisal Jamali, told police and journalists at the hospital that the assailants must be their cousins with whom they had an old land dispute.

He said Arsalan had to take a paper in the SBBU exams on Friday and they [the other four brothers] were accompanying him due to the fear of such an attack. He named Porho Jamali, one of their cousins, as the prime suspect.

The area police were investigating the matter but an FIR was yet to be registered.
