BAJAUR: A man allegedly killed himself in War Mamund tehsil here in Bajaur district on Thursday. Residents told Dawn that Sharifullah Khan, who was also ANP district council member, has shot himself with a rifle in his house in Shinkooti area owing to unknown reasons.

They added that soon after hearing the gunfire, his family members immediately rushed to the room where the incident occurred and took him to the district headquarters hospital Khar.

However, they added that 35-year old Sharifullah Khan succumbed to his injuries at the hospital during treatment. The cause of the incident could not be ascertained immediately.

According to his close relatives and friends, the victim, a builder by profession, and cousin of ANP War Mamund tehsil president Fiazullah Khan, has no visible problems.

“The tragic incident of suicide by a father of three daughters has badly shocked us as he was a cheerful person with substantial land and assets,” the residents quoted his family members as saying.

The alleged suicide act by Sharifullah Khan has not only shocked local residents and family members but also left party workers sad.

ANP local chapter in a social media post has expressed sorrow over Sharifullah Khan’s death and termed it a great loss for the party.
