PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has moved a step closer to launching the Sanam Dam project in Lower Dir as provincial minister for irrigation Riaz Khan on Thursday chaired a high-level review meeting and directed authorities to accelerate all remaining procedures for early execution of the scheme.

The meeting, attended by adviser to the chief minister on industries and commerce Muhammad Humayun Khan and senior officials of relevant departments, reviewed the projects progress and future implementation roadmap, said an official release.

Officials informed the meeting that the Sanam Dam project has been included in the agenda for approval by the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), adding that construction work will commence immediately after formal clearance.

Receiving a detailed briefing, the provincial minister stressed the need for timely completion of procedural requirements and instructed departments concerned to ensure coordinated efforts to avoid unnecessary delays.

Riaz Khan said the provincial government considers timely completion of public welfare projects a key priority and is pursuing practical steps for efficient utilisation of water resources.
