TOBA TEK SINGH: Minerva Club Faisalabad’s building has been demolished on the direction of the district administration after expiry of its land’s lease period.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Adil Umar, who supervised the demolition operation, told reporters on Wednesday that the club’s lease limit had expired so the district administration decided to retrieve its 28 kanal commercial land worth more than Rs40 billion.

He said Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir would decide the future use of this precious piece of land.

The Minerva Club, established in 1935 by the British administration, had now about 500 members, including businessmen and politicians.
