LAHORE: A woman was allegedly tortured to death by her husband and in-laws over some domestic issues in the Cantonment area here on Tuesday.

According to Heir police, a complainant, Rehan, informed them through an emergency call on 15 helpline that his sister had allegedly been killed by her in-laws.

A police team reached the spot, and through preliminary inquiries found that Rehan’s sister, Sobia, had been living with her parents after she developed differences with her husband, Hussain, over some domestic issues.

According to Rehan, two days back, Hussain apparently reconciled with Sobia and took her back to his home.

On Tuesday, Sobia’s in-laws informed her parents that she, allegedly, died by suicide.

The complainant, however, alleged that his sister was tortured to death by her husband and in-laws, and now they were trying to cheat the police by portraying her death as suicide.

The police collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and shifted the body to the city morgue for the postmortem examination, launching further investigations into the matter.
