TAXILA: The police in Bhattar town of Attock arrested two women on allegations of filing a false gang-rape report and operating a honey-trap scheme to extort money from citizens, police officials said on Monday.

According to police sources, Bhattar police received a call through the emergency helpline reporting an alleged gang-rape incident. Responding promptly, a police team reached the location and initiated legal proceedings in accordance with established procedures.

During the course of the investigation, police examined the available evidence and recorded statements from relevant individuals. Officials stated that the initial allegation was found to be false following a detailed inquiry.

Further investigation allegedly revealed that the suspected woman, along with an accomplice, had been involved in ‘blackmailing citizens through a honey-trap scheme’ and extorting money from them.

Police investigators further claimed that the accused women had previously been involved in registering similar cases at different police stations.

Based on the findings of the investigation, Bhattar police registered a case against both suspects and took them into custody. Police officials said the accused are being sent to court with supporting evidence for further legal proceedings.
