KARACHI, July 8: At least 79 people were deprived of either cellphones, cars or motorbikes in various localities of the metropolis on Saturday.

Police sources said that 55 people were deprived of their mobile phones while 11 cars and 13 motorbikes were taken away. The volume of incidents might have been bigger than the reported figures as many of the people did not report to the police after they were looted of their cellphones.

They said that 19 mobile phones were snatched at gunpoint while 36 mobile phones were stolen.

Similarly, four cars were taken away at gunpoint and seven others were stolen in various parts of the city.

The bandits snatched five motorbikes at gunpoint and stole eight others.
