Suspected robbers injured in ‘police encounter’

ISLAMABAD: Two suspected robbers were injured during an encounter, police said.

A case has been registered with Sabzi Mandi police station in this regard in response to a complaint lodged by Sub-inspector Asif Khan.

The police claimed that an informer gave a tip to a seven-member police team performing duty on I.J. Principal Road about the presence of a robbers’ gang near Spin Baba Shrine.

In response, the police team raided the location. On seeing the police, the suspects started firing.

The police personnel lay down to save their lives and did not fire a single shot.

When the firing stopped, they searched the area and found two suspects lying injured.

According to the police, the injured suspects told them that they were injured from the firing of their accomplices who managed to escape from the spot.
