SAHIWAL: Ninth convocation of the Government Graduate College was held at Jinnah Hall, Sahiwal Arts Council, where 1,094 graduates were conferred BS degrees in nine disciplines of sessions of 2016-20, 2017-21, 2018-22, and 2019-24.

The degrees were awarded by two guests of honour, Dr Javed Ahmed, dean Faculty of Science, and Dr Syed Ansar Azhar, director of Public Instructions (Colleges), Lahore. The convocation was organised after a three-year gap.

Principal Prof Dr Mumtaz Ahmed, in his address, recalled the college’s historic legacy, established in 1942, and highlighted the launch of the BS programme in 12 disciplines in 2010. He noted that thousands of graduates had passed out with distinction and academic excellence.

Dr Javed Ahmed emphasised the challenges awaiting them in the highly competitive job market. He acknowledged the shrinking job opportunities in both public and private sectors but stressed that resilience and innovation can turn adversity into opportunity.

Dr Azhar, in his keynote address, celebrated the vitality of youth as the driving force of national progress.
