BAHAWALPUR: Four men, including two brothers, were electrocuted at Chak 388/DB Nawab Wali, Qadiriwali Jhal, near Yazman, about 40kms from here, on Friday.

According to District Emergency Officer (DEO) Baqir Hussain, a group of six members of a village management body visited the turbine room of the local sewage disposal system to operate an out of order electric motor.

As one of them touched the motor, he suffered a massive electric shock and clung to others, transferring the electric current to their bodies.

As a result, all of them fell unconscious.

The locals immediately shifted three of them tothe Yazman Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, while the others were also later moved there by a Rescue 1122 team.

After examining, the doctors pronounced four of them, identified as Aamir (34), his brother Qamar (35), Maalik (40) and Khalid Hussain (45), all residents of Chak No 388, dead.

The rescuers added that the remaining two men -- Arif (35), son of Maalik and his namesake Arif (40), son of Mukhtar -- were being treated at the THQ hospital.
