GUJRANWALA, July 7: Police arrested 19 people, including 12 women, protesting against the demolition of a hall adjacent to a Church in Karyal, Noshehran Virkan, on Friday

Reports said that Christian community had constructed a hall over land adjacent to a Church on Karyal-Tatley Road a few years ago.

Qamer Suhail, the land owner, moved the court pleading that the construction was illegal. The court accepted his plea and asked a bailiff to get the land cleared. When the demolition started, the Christian community blocked the road in protest and pelted the police and vehicles with stones.

Traffic remained suspended for three hours. Later police booked over 200 people, including 12 women.
