KARACHI: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested two suspected robbers in a wounded condition after an “encounter.”
Central SSP Dr Mohammed Imran Khan said that an “encounter” took place with street criminals near Sumaira Garden in Sector-5-H, North Karachi. After an exchange of gunfire, suspects Ali Madad alias Shooter and Noman alias Nomi Burmi were arrested in wounded condition.
During the initial probe, it transpired that suspect Burmi was a trained sectarian militant. He revealed his involvement in heinous crimes. “Noman Burmi had special training in preparing suicide jackets, cracker bombs, and fitting bombs in motorcycles from Miranshah,” said the SSP. The suspect was involved in sectarian terrorism in 2013.
Burmi’s several accomplices had been killed by law enforcers. He has been wanted by the law enforcers since 2012.
The suspect had also confessed to his involvement in snatching motorcycles and one snatched bike was recovered from his custody.
The suspect had also conducted more than five house robberies in the Central district. Furthermore, the suspect and his accomplices had committed a Rs5 million bank robbery in Landhi in the past. The police have obtained CCTV footage in which he was seen looting citizens at gunpoint. Burmi had also conducted firing on a citizen, Abdul Ghaffar, during a robbery in Sharea Faisal this year.
