TEHERAN: The British-owned Anglo-Iranian Oil Company informed Iran today [June 3] it would send representatives from London ... for “full and frank discussions” of the nationalisation of the Company. Hossein Makki, Secretary of the Iranian Mixed Oil Commission charged with carrying out the Parliament’s decision to take over the Company, described the A-IOC decision as “satisfactory” and said it has eased the situation. He said: “They have submitted and they have recognized nationalisation.”

The decision of the Company, in which the British Government is the chief stockholder, was contained in a Note which Mr Richard Seddon, A-IOC chief representative in Iran, handed today to Finance Minister Mohammed Ali Varasten.

[News agencies from Teheran add,] Radio said ... that the message from Truman urging negotiation on the Iranian oil dispute got mixed up and President’s message to the British Prime Minister, Mr Clement Attice, went ... to the Iranian Premier Mr M.A. Mossadeq. Teheran Radio said: Dr Grady in today’s [June 3] meeting with the Premier informed him that the text of the President Truman message which was sent to the British Premier Attlee was by mistake handed to Dr Mossadeq.
