LAHORE: Young daughters of a woman broke down in tears after the Lahore High Court on Monday allowed their mother to go with her second husband.

The court was hearing a habeas corpus petition by Ghulam Hussain seeking recovery of his wife Shabnam Bibi from the alleged illegal custody of her previous husband.

During the proceedings, Shabnam stated before the court that she had married Hussain and wished to live with him.

In light of her statement, the court permitted her to go with her husband.

After the decision, Shabnam’s daughters from her previous marriage started crying and wailing outside the court.

One of the daughters said that her mother had refused to recognise them in the court and instead testified in favour of her new husband.

Following the court’s order, Shabnam left with Hussain.

Ghulam Hussain had filed the petition, alleging that his wife, Shabnam, was being unlawfully confined by her family members. He maintained that Shabnam was legally married to him. He asked the court to recover her and allow her to accompany him.
