Outlaw ‘involved in 35 cases killed by accomplices’

GUJRAT: A wanted outlaw was killed by the alleged firing of his own accomplices in Gujranwala’s Tatley Aali police precincts.

A spokesman for Gujranwala police said a notorious robber namely Muhammad Awais was wanted to the Gujranwala and Sheikhupura police in 35 cases.

The suspect, he said, was killed by the firing of his own accomplices during an ‘encounter’ with the police whereas two of his accomplices fled the scene during the exchange of firing with the police.

Police have registered a case against the suspects and DSP Noshehra Virkan has been assigned the task to arrest the fleeing suspects involved in the encounter.

ARRESTED: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested an outlaw after he was shot injured by the firing of his own accomplices who were involved in firing at a police party in Thon village of Saddar Sara-i-Alamgir police precincts.

A spokesman for Gujrat police said a party had been on a routine patrol in the area during which they signalled motorcyclists to stop but they started firing at the police.

The suspects managed to flee after which police started a search operation in the area and found an injured man lying along the bank of upper Jhelum canal.

The suspect was identified as Bilal Khokhar of Pakpattan who was wanted to Gujrat and Pakpattan districts police in at least 38 cases of dacoity and other henious crimes.

Police have also recovered a pistol from the suspect and later shifted him to Sara-i-Alamgir Tehsil Headquarter hospital for the treatment.
