RAWALPINDI: A woman died after she suffered an electric shock while washing clothes in her house in Dhamial area on Sunday.
According to police reports, Hafiza Bibi, 43, a resident of Pathan Colony on Chakri Road, was washing clothes in the washing machine when she suffered an electric shock.
On receiving the incident report, Rescue 1122 staff reached the spot with an ambulance. However, the woman had already died before receiving any medical aid. Later, her body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) for postmortem.
Meanwhile, burglars and thieves struck at various parts of the city during Eid holidays and stole away gold ornaments, cash and electronic goods.
Fareed Ahmad lodged a complaint with the police saying that his family had gone to Murree after locking their house during Eid holidays. On their return they found the grill of the window of their house was broken in the Railway Housing Society and households scattered in rooms.
Upon listing the goods, they found Rs20,000 lying in the cupboard were stolen.
A similar complaint was lodged with the police by Mohammad Bilal, a resident of Wazir Town who said that he stayed overnight at his brother’s house. On his return to his house the next morning, he found that some unknown thieves had stolen Rs70,000, gold earrings and one LED television.
Wajahat Rahim, a resident of Milad Chowk Dhoke Chaudhrian, lost Rs5,000 to burglars who broke into his house in the absence of his family.
