TAXILA: Two persons were killed in different incidents in Attock on Sunday, police said.
In the first road accident, one person was killed and 43 others injured, 13 critically, when a dumper overturned near Amir Khan on Jhang Road in the jurisdiction of Fatehjang during the early hours of Saturday. Most of the victims were aged between 20 and 30.
According to Rescue 1122 and hospital sources, a dumper, carrying devotees from Hassanabdal, was heading towards the shrine of Prem Nagar Faqiran Wali Sarkar when the vehicle lost control and overturned. Upon receiving information about the incident, Rescue 1122 immediately dispatched three ambulances to the accident site.
Rescue personnel promptly launched relief operations and provided first aid to the injured before shifting them to Wah General Hospital for medical treatment. The body of the deceased was recovered from the wreckage and transferred to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Fatehjang while the injured were shifted to Wah General hospital.
According to Additional Medical Superintendent Dr Abu Hanifa Saeed, 43 injured were brought to the hospital, out of which 13 were in critical condition. They were shifted to Rawalpindi hospitals. He added that other victims had fractured their limbs.
Separately a man was gunned down by unknown assailants near Marri Morr in the limits of Attock city police station.
Police sources said 38 years old Rizwan Qadoos was heading towards his house when a man shot him dead and escaped. Separately a man was shot and injured over old enmity in Muneerabad area in the limits of Wah Saddar police station.
Ahmed Shah reported to the police that he was walking in the street when a man named Mohammad Noor allegedly opened fire at him. The attacker managed to escape from the crime scene.
