SARGODHA: Police claimed to have arrested seven suspects in injured condition during two separate encounters in Sargodha and Faisalabad.
Reports said the Crime Control Department (CCD) and Shahpur City Police arrested six suspects in an encounter within the limits of Shahpur City police station in connection with the rape of a girl and the circulation of her video on social media.
Police said the six suspects, nominated in FIR No. 111/26 under Sections 376 (iii) and 292 of the Pakistan Penal Code, were being taken to Mehboob Colony for remand proceedings when two suspects, identified as ‘A’ and ‘T’, allegedly jumped out of the police vehicle in an attempt to escape. Both were injured after being hit by a passing vehicle.
Police claimed that during the chase, the remaining four suspects managed to flee from the police vehicle and hid in a bamboo plantation near Adda Yarewala.
The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police party, prompting retaliatory firing in self-defence.
After the exchange of fire ended, police found four injured suspects identified as ‘T’, ‘N’, ‘M’ and ‘Ma’.
Police claimed the suspects were injured by firing from their own accomplices. Two 30-bore pistols were also recovered from their possession.
All injured suspects were shifted to hospital. The main accused, identified as ‘T’, was initially shifted to THQ Hospital but later referred to Faisalabad due to his critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police said raids were being conducted to arrest the absconding accomplices.
According to investigators, the main suspect allegedly had an affair with the girl and, along with his accomplices, recorded explicit videos of her.
The suspects allegedly demanded a huge amount from the girl’s parents and uploaded the videos on social media after they refused to pay. The girl’s father later lodged a case with Shahpur City Police.

After the firing stopped, police found one suspect injured while his two accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness. The injured suspect was arrested and shifted to hospital.
