HYDERABAD, July 6: The US Consulate’s Commercial Service, the section dealing with commercial activities, organised a US Companies Catalogue Show at the Gymkhana Club in collaboration with the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) on Thursday.

US Consul General Marry Witt who was chief guest at the show said that the event would help forge trade and business relations between US companies and the city’s business community.

She stressed the need for strengthening trade relations between US companies and Hyderabad traders and noted that the city’s textile sector needed more investment through joint collaboration.

She assured that the service would perform the role of coordinator between the US companies and the city’s traders. Its services also included visa facilities, she added.

Chinese goods were cheap, but the US products were durable because the United States possessed the latest technology, she remarked.

HCCI President Masood Pervez said that the catalogue show held importance for the city’s business community. It would enable them to get in touch directly with US companies, he said.

Later, the consul general met Hyderabad District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil at Circuit House and was briefed on the projects undertaken by the city.

The nazim said the district had launched mega development projects to improve drainage and water supply system, upgrade educational system which included teachers’ training programme and establish a central library etc.
