FIFA has approved Iran’s request to move its national team camp from the United States to Mexico before the World Cup, reports Reuters.

Iranian football chief Mehdi Taj said the preparatory camp will now take place in Tijuana near the Pacific Ocean and close to the US border.

“FIFA has approved the request to change the location of the national team’s camp from the United States to Mexico,” said Taj in comments carried by the Iranian media outlet IRNA.

Iran has faced uncertainty for months over travel and security arrangements for the World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
