PESHAWAR, July 5: The administration of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), NWFP, has clarified a news item which appeared in a section of the press about closure of hostels and said that hostels No. 3, 4 and 8 have been closed for summer vacations and renovation.

According to Provost Engineering University Prof Syed-ul-Abrar, students whose semester classes and supplementary examinations are in progress have been shifted to other hostels.

The university also said that air-conditioned rooms were available in the hostels for students, adding that the mess of the hostel would be made functional only when a majority of students make a demand for it.

The administration would not yield to any outside pressure in this connection.—APP
