TOBA TEK SINGH: Two suspects were killed and another nine arrested in injured condition in separate encounters with the police and the Crime Control Department (CCD) in different parts of Punjab.
An alleged robber was killed in an encounter with the Samanabad Police of Faisalabad in the wee hours on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson claimed that area police were informed by a citizen that four dacoits on motorcycles fled towards the Bhains Colony after snatching Rs165,000 and a motorcycle from him.
He claimed a police party led by SHO Talish Abbas encircled the area and when suspects saw the police, they opened fire, which was also returned. When the firing stopped, police claimed to have found one suspect injured by the firing of his accomplices, who had escaped.
He was shifted to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police claimed. He was identified as Faisal Mahmood Butt of Chak 224 RB, who was wanted in a number of robberies.
In the second incident, an alleged encounter occurred in Sultan Town with the Ghulam Muhammadabad police on Tuesday night.
Police claimed SHO Yousaf Shahzad led a police party on information that four suspects looted a citizen, chased them near the grid station where firing was exchanged between the police and the suspects.
Police claimed when the firing stopped, they found one suspect injured by the bullets of his accomplices, who fled away. He was shifted to the hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. He was identified as Waqas Yousaf of Chichawatni, who was an inter-district criminal wanted in a number of robberies, police claimed.
In another incident, two robbers were arrested in injured condition after an encounter with the Civil Lines Police area of Faisalabad.
Police claimed that a police team led by in charge General Bus Stand Police post ASI Muhammad Bilal stopped four suspects on motorcycles near Darbar Noor Shah Wali but they opened fire. More police force was called from the Civil Lines Police station and after an exchange of fire, two suspects were found injured by the firing of their accomplices, police claimed.
They were arrested and shifted to the hospital and were identified as Wasim of Chiniot and Akhtar Ali of Faisalabad. They were involved in 23 robberies, police said.
Meanwhile in an encounter with the Batala Colony Police in Faisalabad, two robbers were arrested in injured condition on Monday night.
According to the police, after looting citizens in Siddiq Chowk, four suspects headed towards Palak Chowk on bikes. Police claimed that SHO Zaheer Ahmad along with a police party chased them and in cross firing two of them were found injured after receiving multiple bullets fired by their accomplices.
They were arrested and shifted to the hospital and were identified as Abubakar of Chak 229 RB and Amer Sultan of Chak 215 RB Kakkuana. They were involved in a dozen robberies and thefts, police said.
In another incident also in Faisalabad, police claimed Khanuana Police post In-Charge Tahir Shabbir and his team signalled four bikers to stop but they opened fire on them, which was returned in self-defense. When the firing stopped, police claimed to have found two of them injured by their own accomplices. They were arrested and shifted to the hospital.
They were identified as Hamid Ali of Chak 203 RB and Ghulam Sabir Gujjar of Chak 229 RB and police claimed they were involved in six robberies.
At Kamalia near the Makenanwali Chungi, a CCD team claimed to have arrested an outlaw in injured condition. Police claimed that during patrol, the team stopped three motorcyclists who opened fire, which was also retaliated. Police claimed that after the guns went silent, the team found one of them injured by the firing of his accomplices.
He was shifted to the Kamalia THQ Hospital and was identified as Muhammad Irfan of Faisalabad against whom more than a dozen cases were registered in different police stations.
SAHIWAL: In one incident, police claimed that CCD Sub-Inspector Shahid Mahmood was on routine patrol when he attempted to stop two motorcyclists for checking.
The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police, prompting a crossfire that lasted about fifteen minutes. Police claimed that a dacoit, later identified as Muhammad Saleem, a resident of 90/6-R, was injured and arrested, while his accomplice Khalid fled on a motorcycle.
Police claimed to have recovered a 30-bore pistol and a motorcycle from the scene. A case was registered on the complaint of SI Shahid.
In a separate incident, a Ghala Mandi Police mobile squad claimed to have encountered three drug traffickers riding a motorcycle near the Kachi Abadi, Sharif Colony. The allegedly traffickers opened fire upon seeing the police, who retaliated. During the exchange, one suspect, identified as Sultan Shana, a resident of Anayat Dispensary Road, was injured and arrested, while his two companions escaped in the dark.
Police claimed to have recovered a single-barrel gun and hashish from the scene.
The injured suspect was shifted to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital by Rescue 1122 and a case was registered against the suspects.
