BAHAWALPUR, July 4: Frequent power outages have made the life in hot and humid weather miserable. Tuesday was the worst day for the consumers in several parts of the city, as they had to brave sultry weather due to power failures for many times. Power supply suspended twice or thrice a day in many localities, particularly at noon or peak hours in the evening.

Residents of Darbar Road and adjacent areas had a sleepless night on Monday as electricity supply was disrupted due to uprooting of a tree near Kali Pulli. The entire area of Muslim Town, Gulzar Basti and Darbar Mahal Road plunged into darkness the whole night.

Areas around Satellite Town faced hardships due to frequent tripping during Tuesday’s high temperature of about 45 degrees.

MEPCO officials failed to justify the repeated breakdowns. They blamed the public for it saying that the use of airconditioners was on the rise which caused disruption of power supply.

Candidates who are taking examinations are the worst sufferers of power outages. They have asked the MEPCO officials to ensure regular supply of electricity.

RAPIST AT LARGE: Saddar police have failed to arrest Tanveer, who raped a six-year old girl at Muslim Town here on Monday.
