TOBA TEK SINGH: The Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology (FIC) medical superintendent has surrendered the services of two charge nurses with immediate effect for alleged negligence causing a surgical tool to be left inside the body of a patient during an open heart surgery some three weeks ago.

In his letter to the Punjab specialised healthcare and medical education department secretary, he said that the inquiry proved negligence on part of staffers Aqsa Sardar and Nida Arifa Bakht.

He further said that both had been relieved from the FIC with immediate effect. Their services were no more required in the FIC and the matter was being referred for further necessary action, he added.

CCRI: Presidential award winning cotton grower Chaudhry Javed Riaz has opposed the proposed decision of Multan district administration to establish gymkhana club on 12 acre precious land of the Central Cotton Research Institute (CCRI), Multan.

Addressing a press conference on Friday at Toba Tek Singh along with leaders of farmers, he said that the CCRI is playing an important role in producing high yield cottonseed.

He added converting the land of this institution into a club for elite class is against the national interest.
