ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Railways has sought a report from the railways ministry on public notice by the government to restrict the use of railways premises for advertising, filming or photographing by social media influencers, bloggers or general public.

The standing committee meeting on Monday observed that the public notice issued by the government is breaching the right to information and access being a fundamental right protected by the Constitution of the country.

The committee also evaluated the progress of ML-I project and implementation of the Railways Advanced Infrastructure Network (RAIN) and WIM, emphasising the necessity of maintaining absolute transparency in the project funding and coordination with international financial institutions. It recommended that the ministry should brief the committee in the next meeting.
